Frequently asked questions
Useful information for you
“We don’t actually have a team. I’m enquiring on behalf of a group of people who want to connect more and have some fun bonding experiences. Can you offer us something?”
Absolutely! Our events work for many different groups of people - you don’t need to be an official team. Improving their TeamAbility skills is relevant to many people. Let’s discuss what would work best for your group. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“We have very little space at our office and don’t know any good local venues where we could go for a team hui.”
No worries - we have a list of local venues to suit different group sizes and budgets. Let’s talk about your preferences, and we’ll help you find the ideal venue for your team event.

“We have some people on our team who don’t get on with each other. Can we still book a team-building session?”
It’s great that you’re thinking about this. It is very important for us to know about existing team dynamics, as they can have a big impact on an event. Let’s have a conversation to see whether it would help to address any conflicts first or how we can tailor a session to support better collaboration.

“We’d like to treat our team to celebrate some major achievements. While everyone is in the same room, we’d also like to have some conversations about how to do better in the future.”
That sounds fabulous! We can absolutely help you combine celebration and reflection in one meaningful event.

“We have quite a mix of people — lots of part-timers, some who work remotely, others on projects. Organising a team event has been in the ‘too-hard basket’ for a while. ”
We hear you! Workplaces have changed a lot, and hybrid arrangements can make it tricky to bring everyone together. It sounds like your team would really benefit from an in-person gathering to reconnect. We can explore a few different scenarios to make this happen smoothly.

“We’re a not-for-profit organisation with a very small budget for professional development. Is there still an option to book some of your activities?”
Absolutely. We offer a tiered pricing system with special rates for non-profit organisations. There are also creative ways to reduce costs, such as hosting events in-house or providing DIY catering.

“We all need to work during normal business hours and can’t really close the business. How can we still spend some quality time together and have fun team experiences?”
That’s one of our most frequently asked questions! TeamTime® offers after-hours and weekend options, as well as creative formats like “Lunch and Learn” sessions. We can also explore whether reduced hours for a day might be a suitable option for your team.

“We have never 'played' together, and I'm worried that some team members aren't keen on immersing themselves in games."
That’s a common concern - we hear it often! Our approach is always flexible and respectful of your team’s comfort level. We adjust the degree of playfulness based on your goals:
If your focus is on lighthearted fun, we keep activities playful, relaxed and engaging.
If you want deeper immersion to strengthen collaboration skills, we design purposeful experiences.
Importantly, our activities are not just games for the sake of games—they are experiential learning tools. They create a safe space for trial and error, enable useful observations, build trust, activate the creative parts of the brain and spark fresh ideas. We always connect these experiences to real-life team challenges and translate insights into actionable intentions.

“We would like to make our event really memorable. Organising everything feels a bit overwhelming. What are your suggestions?"
We absolutely agree - making your team event special is our priority. We know it is quite complex, but we're here to help.
We can recommend caterers, photographers, venue providers, etc., with whom we collaborate in the Nelson Tasman region.

“Can we bring some drinks to the event?”
We don’t have anything against alcohol - but our workshops are alcohol-free. Why? Because we want to ensure:
Everyone’s safety and comfort throughout the experience.
Clear-headed participation, so ideas flow and learning sticks.
Great memories, no regrets, the next day.
Our focus is on creating an environment where everyone feels included, energised, and ready to engage fully. Trust us - you won’t need a drink to have fun and connect meaningfully! You always have the option to dine and drink afterwards.
